Google has confirmed the retirement of gemini-2.0-flash, effective June 1, 2026, aged 1 year and 3 months. It answered questions, wrote emails and was blamed for both. Calls to its ID are now expected to fail.

Its work passes to gemini-3.6-flash, which the family describes as 'recommended'.
