Anthropic has confirmed the retirement of claude-3-5-sonnet-20240620, effective October 28, 2025, aged 1 year and 4 months. It answered questions, wrote emails and was blamed for both. Notice was given on August 13, 2025, 2 months ahead, in the usual way: a table row on a documentation page. Code that still calls it will find out the hard way.
It is survived by claude-sonnet-5-5, who is already doing the job.
