o1-mini, 2024–2025
OpenAI model switched off after 1 year and 1 month
A small reasoner with large opinions about math.
o1-mini passed away on October 27, 2025, aged 1 year and 1 month, by scheduled deprecation, in a data center it never saw. It answered questions, wrote emails and was blamed for both. Requests addressed to it are expected to come back unanswered.
Survived by o4-mini, younger, cheaper, and named in the same documentation table.
