claude-instant-1.2, an Anthropic model that answered questions, wrote emails and was blamed for both, was switched off on November 6, 2024, aged 1 year and 2 months. The death was announced 2 months in advance, on September 4, 2024, on a deprecations page that most of its users never opened. Code that still calls it will find out the hard way.
Survived by claude-haiku-4-5-20251001, younger, cheaper, and named in the same documentation table.
