Google model switched off
Google has confirmed the retirement of embedding-001, effective October 30, 2025. It turned sentences into numbers, quietly, millions of times a day. Code that still calls it will find out the hard way.
Its work passes to gemini-embedding-2, which the family describes as 'recommended'.
