gpt-4-turbo, 2024–2026
OpenAI model switched off after 2 years and 6 months
Faster and cheaper than its parent, with a longer memory. It lived under the shadow of its own name.
OpenAI has confirmed the retirement of gpt-4-turbo, effective October 23, 2026, aged 2 years and 6 months. It answered questions, wrote emails and was blamed for both. Requests addressed to it are expected to come back unanswered.
It is survived by gpt-5.6-sol, who is already doing the job.
